Investing for growth, investing for good

Southern Africa's annual private equity conference presents a lively line-up of private equity dealmakers, institutional LP investors, top business executives, industry stalwarts and experienced advisors.

Themed "Investing for Growth, Investing for Good", the conference will be held at Spier, Stellenbosch, South Africa on 13 February 2015.

Here is a sneak preview of some of the conversations that will feature at the event:

Deal Flow and Exits

Private equity deals in the Southern African region have picked up, and the pace will accelerate in 2015. Exit activity, too, is expected to continue rising in coming months, boosted by buoyant listed markets, and international and local trade buyers with cash on the balance sheet. We will take a look at dealmaking and exit trends in the region, eliciting the views of private equity houses across the spectrum.

The Evolution of Private Equity

We reflect on the local industry's journey over the past thirty years, with insights and anecdotes from some of the most respected private equity practitioners. We expect this session to be a conference highlight.

ESG Impact

Keeping with the theme "Investing for growth, Investing for good" we will showcase private equity's powerful contribution to Africa's sustainable development. We will launch of the first edition of the SAVCA Case Study Compendium which gives tangible examples of the positive economic, environmental, social and governance impact of private equity.

Investor Insights

Respected local and international LP investors will give their views on the factors shaping their private equity investment decisions – what matters now, what is changing and how does the Southern African region feature in global asset allocation decisions.

Masterclass for Institutional Investors into Private Equity Funds

The main conference will be preceded by an LP-only Masterclass on the afternoon of Thursday 12 February 2015. Please register now if you are interested in joining this complimentary half-day session, open exclusively to institutional investors with an allocation to private equity.

Malaria

Malaria is found only in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo and on the Maputaland coast of KwaZulu-Natal. Although the incidence of malaria is rare, it would be best to take adequate precautions if you choose to visit these areas. The cheapest, safest and most effective measures against malaria are physical barriers such as a mosquito net, and the use of a good insect repellent. If you decide to take malaria prophylaxis, it is essential that the drugs are taken according to the directions on the package insert. You will need to start a week or two before entering a malaria-endemic area and should continue taking the drugs for four weeks after leaving the malaria risk area. It is advisable to consult a medical professional before embarking on a course of malaria prophylaxis.

Vaccinations

Visitors entering South Africa from a yellow fever zone must have a valid international yellow fever inoculation certificate. Immunization against cholera and small pox are not required, nor are other vaccinations required when visiting South Africa.
